Discuss with students the concept of Separate but Equal.
Have students write a diary entry on their own paper concerning a day in their life if they lived in a world where Plessy v. Ferguson was not overturned, a place where “Separate but Equal” was still the law. Have students consider school, recreation, work, and travel (car, bus, ferry and plane).
